I know my skills for learning a second language in a high school class, and I didn’t do so well. (It was for Spanish)

Now that I’m in college, I want to take French, but should I do that, or should I use a computer program like Rosetta Stone?

I really would love to learn many foreign languages, and I’d like to start with French.I don’t know where I should go, or what I should do to learn it though.I want a cheap way to learn but I want it to work, and with a busy schedule, I can’t take classes.

I’m in college and I’m required to learn a language for my major, but I can’t decide between French or American Sign Language. Which is easier to learn? Which has more practical value?

I just got back from Haiti and loved it, and would like to continue going there. My question is: would it be worth it to take French classes at my school so that I could understand creole better? I’m trying to learn creole right now and I was wondering if knowing French would help?

I am taking French in college right now trying to get a minor. I just got done with my first semester; I received an A+.

But I wonder if using a program such as Rosetta Stone would save me money as well as help me learn the language faster and more thoroughly.

The reason I am taking French in school is to receive a minor (to complement my major) as well as be prepared when I go to France and other French-speaking countries in the future.

Any suggestions?

Besides learning Russian, I heard I should learn French. French was used primarily during the eighteenth century so I was just wondering if it would be a good idea. Thanks!

well, i’m very wondering about these 2 groups of languages. most of people in my country want to learn chinese and japanese because they have made a great impact to my country’s economy, but i love french and spanish more. my country’s also france’s colony and people from the elite group in my country speak french also. spanish is now dominating the world and probably in the next several years, it will become the most international language in the world. according to your ideas, which one should i learn?

I speak English and Spanish, and am hoping to learn either French or Moroccan Arabic by the time that my husband and I move to Morocco to teach English. Which would be better for me to learn, to communicate with people? And does Moroccan Arabic use an alphabet similar to the English/Spanish ones, or is it very different in its written form? And is it true that Spanish is spoken in the north of Morocco?

I learned great Spanish grammar from high school courses, but I’d like to study abroad in Paris and want to learn French. Those HS courses never taught me to speak Spanish very well (but man, can I write an esay ;D). Do those cds and computer programs really work, or would they be a waste of money?
